- les adjectifs se terminant par -y se transforment en -ie: Paul is funnier than Peter. Paul est plus drôle que Peter

- les adjectifs d'une syllabe se terminant par consonne-voyelle-consonne (CVC) doublent la consonne finale: Paul is bigger than Sarah. Paul est plus grand que Sarah Henry is sadder than Josh. Henry est plus triste que Josh
