CHARLIE ́S HOUSE, CHARLIE ́S GRANDPA, FACTORY’S HISTORY

 

 

 

Narrator 1:

 

 

 

This is the story of an ordinary little boy named Charlie Bucket. His family was not rich, or powerful, or well-connected. In fact, they had almost nothing to eat. But… Charlie Bucket was the luckiest boy in the entire world. He just didn't know it yet... !

 

 

 

Let me introduce Charlie’s family to you :

 

 

 

SCENE 1 : CHARLIE ́S HOUSE (Tableaux de personnages qui prennent vie uniquement quand ils parlent : ils sont gelés, les 4 grands-parents assis dans le lit, M. Bucket lit son journal sur une chaise , Madame Bucket cuisine et Charlie joue avec des allumettes.)

 

 

 

NARRATOR 1 There are only two rooms and only one bed ,so you can see that life is very uncomfortable.

 

 

 

Narrator 1 (s’approche de Mrs Bucket) This is Mr and Mrs Bucket. Mrs Bucket is preparing dinner : it’s always cabbage soup !

 

 

 

Narrator 2 (s’approche du lit)

 

These two very old people are the father and mother of Mr.Bucket. Their names are Grandpa Joe and Grandma Josephine. And these two very old people are the father and mother of Mrs.Bucket. Their names are Grandpa George and Grandma Georgina.

 

 

 

Narrator 1 (s’approche de Charlie) And this is our lucky boy but right now he is very hungry…

 

 

 

Les narrateurs claquent des doigts et soudainement la scène prend vie.

 

 

 

Grandpa Joe: I saw Willy Wonka, the famous chocolatier, with my eyes. I worked for him in his chocolate factory.

 

 

 

Charlie: You did? (Charlie se rapproche)

 

 

 

Grandpa Joe: I did !

 

 

 

Grandma Georgina: I love grapes !

 

 

 

 

 

SCENE 2 : SPIES IN THE FACTORY

 

 

 

Narrator 1 : Willy Wonka built the largest chocolate factory in history. It was amazing !

 

All the other chocolate makers, were jealous of Mr. Wonka. They sent spies to steal his secret recipes.  (espions sur scène)

 

 

 

Narrator 2 : They stole everything, and one day, Mr. Wonka told his workers to go home.

 

 

 

He said : (Willy Wonka apparait et parle)

 

 

 

Willy Wonka : ‘I’m closing his chocolate factory forever’

 

 

 

 

 

Grandpa Joe ( avec Charlie devant les spectateurs, assis sur l’estrade)  : and so we lost our job … it was terrible !

 

 

 

Charlie: But the factory is open right now. So who works there?

 

 

 

Grandpa Joe: Nobody knows, Charlie. It is a mystery ….

 

 

 

 

 

SCENE THREE: WILLY WONKA’S CALL

 

 

 

Willy Wonka: Dear people of the world. . . I, Willy Wonka, have decided to invite five children to my factory this year. One of these children will receive a special prize better than anything you could ever imagine.

Personne qui crie dans la rue en distribuant des flyers : Five golden tickets have been hidden under the ordinary wrapping paper of five ordinary Wonka bars. These five candy bars may be anywhere. . . in any shop, in any street, in any town, in any country in the world.

 

 

 

Les enfants se précipitent tous au ralenti pour attraper des flyers.

 

 

 

SCENE 4 : 4 tickets found

 

 

 

Reporter : The first ticket was found in Germany by a greedy boy called Augustus Gloop …

 

 

 

Augustus: I was eating the Wonka bar and I tasted something, that was not chocolate. . . or coconut. . . or nut, or peanut butter. . . or fruit. . . or caramel. So I looked and, I found the golden ticket! I celebrated by eating more candy!

 

 

 

Reporter : The second ticket was found in the USA by a real champion named Miss Violet Beauregarde.

 

 

 

Violet: These are my trophies. I'm the World Champion of gum chewers. And I do karate. I am going to win that special prize, because I am a winner! I’m the best !

 

 

 

Violet’s Mum : She is just like me, I’m so proud of her !

 

 

 

Reporter : The third ticket was found by Veruca Salt in a castle in England. 

 

 

 

Veruca: V-E-R-U-C-A. Veruca Salt. Daddy I want the golden ticket. Where's my golden ticket? I want my golden ticket!

 

 

 

Daddy: (Il l’arrache de quelqu’un et le donne à sa fille) Here you are my darling girl.

 

 

 

Veruca: I want another pony.

 

 

 

Daddy: Anything for you, my darling girl.

 

 

 

Reporter : The fourth golden ticket has been found by a boy called Mike Teavee. How did you find it Mike ?

 

 

 

Mike: It was very easy. All I had to do was hack the manufacturing system, get the dates and delivery routes. A stupid could do it ! I only had to buy one candy bar. And I didn ́t eat it. I hate chocolate. Die! Die! Die!

 

 

 

Narrator 3 : There was one only one ticket left, but the impossible was about to happen …..

 

 

 

SCENE 5 : CHARLIE GETS THE LAST TICKET

 

 

 

Grandpa Joe: Charlie! Charlie! This is for your birthday. Happy birthday my dear boy ! (Lui donne un billet) Go buy a candy bar!

 

 

 

Charlie: Are you sure, Grandpa?

 

 

 

Grandpa Joe: Of course I'm sure. Run to the store, run!

 

 

 

Charlie: One Wonka candy bar, please.

 

 

 

Shopkeeper: Okay. (Charlie opens it and finds the golden ticket)

 

It's a golden ticket. You found the last golden ticket in my shop !!!!

 

 

 

Man: I'll give you fifty dollars and a new bicycle.

 

 

 

Woman: Are you crazy ? I'll give you five-hundred dollars for that ticket.

 

 

 

Shopkeeper: Leave the kid alone ! Take it home ! Run !

 

 

 

CHARLIE RUNS HOME

 

 

 

Charlie: I found it! The last golden ticket! It's mine!

 

 

 

Grandpa Joe: Yippee! Read it aloud.

 

 

 

SCENE 6 : The invitation

 

 

 

ALL THE WINNERS READING THE GOLDEN TICKETS

 

 

 

Everybody (chacun son tour):

 

 'Greetings to you, the lucky finder of this golden ticket, from Mr. Willy Wonka. I invite you to come to my factory and be my guest for one whole day.

 

I, Willy Wonka, will conduct you around the factory myself, showing you everything there is to see.

 

And remember, one of you lucky five children will receive an extra prize beyond your wildest imagination.

 

Now, here are your instructions: On the first of February, you must come to the factory at ten a.m. Until then, Willy Wonka.'

SCENE 7 : Welcome to the factory + Augustus

 

 

 

 

 

Willy Wonka: (voice) How do you do ? And these are your parents ? How nice ! Please enter. Dear visitors, welcome to my chocolate factory. And who am I? Well...

AUGUSTUS: I’m tired! When are we going to eat? I’m hungry!

 

 

 

WONKA: Here we are everyone. The chocolate room! This is the center of the whole factory. It’s the heart of everything.

 

 

 

AUGUSTUS: I don’t see anything but an old river here. Where’s the chocolate? I’m hungry.

 

 

 

WONKA: It’s all chocolate. Every drop of that river is hot chocolate of the best quality, my children!

 

 

 

VERUCA: Look! Look! What is that? It’s moving. It’s walking. Why, it’s a little person,

 

a little man!

 

 

 

MR SALT:  There are many of them! Are they real people ?

 

 

 

WONKA: Well of course, they are Oompa Loompas.

 

 

 

(Wonka rit très fort)

 

 

 

CHARLIE: Oompa Loompas. What do you mean?                

 

 

 

WONKA: They come from Oompa land, and what a terrible country it is.

 

 

 

VERUCA: There is no such place! I go to the best school in the entire country, and if

 

there were an Oompa Land,I would know for sure.

 

 

 

Daddy! I want an Oompa Loompa! I want one right away. Get one for me now! Get me an Oompa Loompa or I will scream!

 

 

 

Veruca’s dad: Now, now, my pet. We must not interrupt Mr. Wonka.

 

 

 

VERUCA: But I want an Oompa Loompa!

 

 

 

VERUCA’S DAD: Alright, my darling. Mommy and I will arrange that very soon.

 

 

 

MRS. GLOOP: Augustus, Sweetheart, I don’t think you should do that.

 

 

 

WONKA: Oh, no! Please, Augustus, I beg of you! My chocolate must never be touched by human hands!

 

 

 

AUGUSTUS :   Look, I can touch the chocolate !

 

 

 

MRS. GLOOP: Listen to Mr. Wonka, Augustus. Come away now!

 

 

 

AUGUSTUS: This stuff is terrific! Yuuuummmmm!

 

 

 

WONKA: You’re ruining my chocolate!

 

 

 

MRS. GLOOP : Be careful!

 

 

 

[Augustus screams as he falls in]

 

 

 

MRS. GLOOP: Save him! He’ll drown! He can’t swim! Save him! Save him!

 

 

 

(MRS.GLOOP jumps up and down)

 

 

 

AUGUSTUS: Help! Help! Help!

 

 

 

MRS. GLOOP :Don’t just stand there! Do something! Help! Help! Murder! Murder! Police! Police! Augustus!!!

 

 

 

WONKA: Keep calm! You will see him again, for sure.

 

 

 

MRS. GLOOP: But he’ll turn into hot chocolate!

 

 

 

WONKA: Impossible!

 

 

 

MRS. GLOOP: And why is that?

 

 

 

WONKA:  That pipe doesn’t go to the chocolate room but to the fudge room.

 

 

 

MRS. GLOOP: My boy! My little boy turned to fudge! You monster!

 

 

 

WONKA: He’ll be alright.

 

 

 

MRS. GLOOP: He’ll be chocolate fudge!

 

 

 

WONKA : Never. The taste would be terrible. Who would eat Augustus fudge ? Nobody, I’m sure …

 

 

 

MRS. GLOOP : I don’t want to think about it, my poor little boy!

 

 

 

WONKA: Goodbye, Mrs. Gloop. See you later ! Let’s continue. We shall go to the magic room.

 

 

 

SCENE 8 : VERUCA and the gum

 

 

 

Violet: Hey, Mr Wonka, what's this? It's gum!

 

It sounds like my kind of gum.

 

 

 

Willy Wonka: Don’t eat it! It’s not ready yet!

 

 

 

Violet’s mum: My girl is the world champion on chewing gum you know.

 

 

 

Violet : And I'm not afraid of anything.

 

 

 

Violet’s mum : Here you are darling (elle lui donne le chewing gum)

 

 

 

Mmm It's amazing!

 

 

 

Willy Wonka: I'm just a little concerned about the. . .(Violet starts swelling.)

 

 

 

Willy Wonka: That part.

 

 

 

Violet’s mum: What's happening to her?

 

 

 

Willy Wonka: I told you, it’s not ready but you children never listen …

Veruca’s Dad : You have plenty of other pets darling.

 

 

 

Veruca: All I've got at home is one pony and two dogs and four cats and six rabbits and two parakeets and three canaries and a green parrot and a turtle and a silly old hamster. I want a squirrel!

 

 

 

Willy Wonka: They are not for sale young girl.

 

 

 

Veruca: If you don’t get me a squirrel, I'll get one myself.

 

 

 

Veruca: (Taking a squirrel) I'll have you. Ahhh!

Violet’s mum: My girl is the world champion on chewing gum you know.

Violet : Mmm It's amazing!

 

 

 

Willy Wonka: I'm just a little concerned about the. . .(Violet starts swelling.)

SCENE 9 : VERUCA and the squirrels

 

 

 

Veruca: (Pointing) Squirrels! I love squirrels ! Daddy : I want a squirrel now.

 

 

 

Veruca’s Dad : You have plenty of other pets darling.

 

 

 

Veruca: All I've got at home is one pony and two dogs and four cats and six rabbits and two parakeets and three canaries and a green parrot and a turtle and a silly old hamster. I want a squirrel!

 

 

 

Veruca’s Dad : Very well. Mr. Wonka, how much do you want for one of those squirrels? Name your price.

 

 

 

WONKA: They’re not for sale. She can’t have one.  

 

 

 

Veruca: If you don’t get me a squirrel, I'll get one myself.

 

 

 

WONKA: Little girl… Don’t…

 

 

 

Veruca : (Taking a squirrel) I'll have you. Ahhh! Daddy !

 

 

 

CHARLIE: What are they doing?

 

 

 

WONKA: They’re testing her to see if she’s a bad nut… Oh, my goodness. It seems she is a bad nut after all.

 

 

 

Veruca’s dad: Where are they taking her?

 

 

 

WONKA: Where all the other bad nuts go- to the garbage chute, I’m afraid !

 

 

 

Veruca’s dad: Oh dear !

VERUCA SALT, THE LITTLE BRUTE

WONKA: Let’s take the elevator now.

 

MIKE: I wanna pick a room!

 

WONKA: Go ahead.

 

MIKE: (pushing a button) Sweet! The television room!

 

WONKA: There it is. Go ahead- put those glasses on.

 

MIKE: Pfff ….It’s just a picture.

 

 

 

CHARLIE: But can you really send the chocolate bar by television?

 

WONKA: Course I can. Look at that ! (il montre)

 

MIKE: How about people?

 

WONKA: Well, why would I want to send a person? They don’t taste very good at all!
