Title: "Future Plans Role Play"

Level: B2

Objective: To practice using various future tenses in a realistic context through role-playing scenarios.

Materials Needed:

- Role-play scenario cards (see instructions below)

- Timer or stopwatch

Instructions:

1. Preparation:

   - Create a set of role-play scenario cards, each describing a situation where future plans or events are discussed. Include scenarios that require the use of different future tenses, such as simple future, future continuous, future perfect, and future perfect continuous.

   - Example scenarios:

     1. Planning a weekend getaway with a friend (Simple Future).

     2. Discussing a future job interview (Future Continuous).

     3. Talking about New Year's resolutions (Future Perfect).

     4. Reflecting on a 10-year high school reunion (Future Perfect Continuous).

   - Shuffle the scenario cards and place them face down in a pile.

2. Pair Up:

   - Divide your B2-level students into pairs. Each pair will work together throughout the activity.

3. Future Plans Role Play:

   - In each pair, one student takes on the role of Person A, and the other as Person B.

   - Person A selects a scenario card from the pile and reads it aloud to Person B. They both take a moment to think about their roles.

   - Person A and Person B then engage in a role-play conversation based on the scenario, discussing their future plans or events. They should use the appropriate future tense based on the scenario.

   - Encourage the students to use other related vocabulary and expressions as well to make the role-play more realistic and engaging.

   - Set a time limit for each role play, such as 5-7 minutes, depending on the complexity of the scenario.

4. Switch Roles and Repeat:

   - After each role play, switch roles so that Person B becomes Person A, and vice versa.

   - Continue with different scenario cards, allowing each pair to practice multiple scenarios.

5. Group Discussion:

   - After completing several role plays, bring the class together for a group discussion.

   - Ask pairs to share some interesting conversations they had during the role plays, highlighting the use of different future tenses.

   - Facilitate a class discussion on the challenges and successes in using future tenses in realistic conversations.

This role-play activity encourages students to use various future tenses in authentic situations, promoting language production and enhancing their ability to discuss future plans and events confidently.
