By now, your students should be proficient at spelling words in Rime Magic with two- and three-letter onsets and endings.  If you have not done so already, it is time to move on to the next steps. Read on!

Rationale: Reading and writing are reciprocal skills, involving decoding and encoding words. The more flexibly students switch between encoding and decoding, the more fluently they will write and read. Until now, Magic Rime has focused more on writing than reading, since we have been spelling words with no written component. We know our students struggle to transfer their learning between reading and writing (witness students who make high grades on spelling tests, but spell those same words incorrectly when writing or cannot recognize them in text.)
