Meaning and use
Checking for confirmation
The main use of question tags is to seek confirmation of what the speaker
believes to be true - to check that the person you are speaking to agrees that you understanding is correct.
Your name's John, isn't it?
Nice party, isn't it?
Such question tags help to bring the listener into the flow of conversation. They typically expect an agreeing answer - or no answer at all. The speaker might be a little surprised if the listener came back with a denial or disagreement.
The intonation of the tag ending falls (ie your voice goes down).
1. Write 7 sentences about me which you think are true.
